Hi @Sbk62962,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your cursor has disappeared, there are several potential causes and corresponding solutions. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you troubleshoot and fix the issue:
1. Check Basic Hardware
- Check Mouse Connection: If you're using a wired mouse, ensure it's securely plugged into the USB port. If it’s a wireless mouse, check the batteries and the connection between the mouse and its receiver.
- Try a Different Port: Plug the mouse into a different USB port to rule out port issues.
- Test Another Mouse: If possible, try using a different mouse to see if the issue persists.
2. Restart Your Computer
- Simple Restart: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve cursor issues. Save any work and restart your computer to see if the cursor reappears.
3. Check Mouse Settings
- Windows:
- Open Settings: Go to Settings > Devices > Mouse.
- Check Settings: Ensure that the settings are correct and that the "Show cursor" option is enabled.
- Additional Mouse Options: Click on Additional mouse options on the right, go to the Pointer Options tab, and ensure the “Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key” is checked.
- Mac:
- System Preferences: Go to System Preferences > Mouse or Trackpad and check the settings.
- Accessibility: Go to System Preferences > Accessibility > Display, and check if “Increase contrast” or other settings might affect cursor visibility.
4. Check for Hidden Cursor
- Hover Over the Screen: Sometimes the cursor is just hidden or off-screen. Try moving the mouse around or using the keyboard to navigate and see if the cursor appears.
- Try Pressing CTRL Key: On Windows, pressing the CTRL key can temporarily highlight the cursor location.
5. Update or Reinstall Mouse Drivers
- Windows:
- Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager. Expand Mice and other pointing devices, right-click on your mouse, and select Update driver.
- Uninstall and Reinstall: If updating doesn’t work, right-click on the mouse in Device Manager, select Uninstall device, then restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
