Hi @JMAdkins84
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds frustrating to lose your cursor functionality, but let's get it back! Here are some troubleshooting steps to try on your HP Spectre laptop:
Enable the Touchpad
- Press Fn + F7 (or the touchpad toggle key, depending on your model).
- If this doesn’t work, go to Settings → Devices → Touchpad and ensure it’s enabled.
Restart Your Laptop
- A simple reboot can sometimes resolve touchpad issues.
Check Device Manager for Touchpad Issues
- Press Win + X, select Device Manager, and expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- If the touchpad driver has a warning symbol, right-click and select Update driver.
Reinstall the Touchpad Driver
- In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad driver and select Uninstall.
- Restart your laptop—Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
Try an External Mouse
- If an external mouse works, the issue may be with the touchpad hardware or settings.
You're doing everything right, and I have no doubt you'll get this resolved! Let me know how it goes, and I’ll be happy to assist further. 🚀
