Hi @Nelak,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Laptop 14 is not recognizing multiple monitors, the issue could be related to hardware, software, or configuration. Here’s a systematic guide to resolve it.

Check Hardware Connections

  • Verify Cables: Ensure all cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, etc.) are securely connected and not damaged.
  • Adapter Compatibility: If using adapters (e.g., USB-C to HDMI), ensure they support multiple monitors.
  • Monitor Power: Check that monitors are powered on and set to the correct input source (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.).

Enable Display Settings

Windows Display Settings:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
  • Scroll down to Multiple displays and click Detect.
  • If monitors are recognized but not displaying, choose Extend these displays from the drop-down menu.

Keyboard Shortcut:

  • Press Windows + P to open the projection menu.
  • Select Extend or Duplicate as per your need.

Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

  1. Check Graphics Card:
    • Your laptop might use integrated graphics (Intel/AMD) or dedicated graphics (NVIDIA/AMD).
  2. Update Drivers:
    • Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
    • Expand Display adapters.
    • Right-click on your graphics card and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
  3. Reinstall Drivers:
    • If updates don’t help, uninstall the driver and restart the laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
  4. Manufacturer's Drivers:
    • Visit the HP Support website or the graphics card manufacturer’s site (Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD) to download the latest drivers.

Check Hardware Capabilities

  • Confirm your HP Laptop 14 supports multiple monitors:
    • Some laptops support only one external display via HDMI or USB-C unless a docking station or DisplayLink adapter is used.
    • Check the laptop’s manual or specifications for supported configurations.

Test with Another Monitor or Cable

  • Try connecting different monitors or cables to rule out a hardware issue.
  • Use a single external monitor first to confirm the laptop can detect it, then connect additional displays.

Consider BIOS/UEFI Update

  • If the problem persists, an outdated BIOS could be the issue. Visit the HP Support website, enter your laptop's serial number, and check for BIOS updates.
  • Update only if necessary and follow HP's instructions carefully.

Use a Docking Station or DisplayLink

  • If your laptop has limited ports, consider using:
    • A USB-C docking station with multiple display outputs.
    • A DisplayLink adapter for connecting multiple monitors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
