HP ProBook 430 G4 Notebook PC
My keyboard is not working. I did a keyboard test and it says "fix the problem". This happened once before. It was fixed after 5 minutes. This time it hasn't been fixed. It's been at least 2 weeks.

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the keyboard on your HP ProBook 430 G4 Notebook PC is not functioning, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Restart the Computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Restart your laptop to see if this resolves the issue.

  2. Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the keyboard for any visible damage, such as stuck keys or debris under the keys. Clean the keyboard carefully using compressed air to remove any dust or debris.

  3. Update or Reinstall Keyboard Driver:

    • Go to Device Manager.
    • Expand the Keyboards category.
    • Right-click on your keyboard device and select Update driver. Choose to search automatically for updated driver software.
    • If updating doesn’t work, you can try uninstalling the driver and restarting the computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the appropriate driver.
  4. Check Keyboard Settings: Ensure the keyboard input settings are correct. Go to Control Panel > Language and Region, and check if the correct language and keyboard layout are selected.

  5. Test in Safe Mode: Restart your computer in Safe Mode to determine if the issue is related to third-party software. If the keyboard works in Safe Mode, a software conflict may be causing the issue.

  6. External Keyboard Test: Connect an external USB keyboard to see if it functions properly. This will help determine if the issue is hardware-related or specific to the built-in keyboard.

  7. Perform a System Restore: If the keyboard issue started recently, you can perform a system restore to revert to a point when the keyboard was functioning correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
