Hi @HarryBug,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your Realtek DMFT-RGB camera is not being recognized by Windows Hello on your laptop, follow these steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.

Driver Updates:

  • Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your Realtek DMFT-RGB camera. Visit HP's Support website and search for your laptop model to find and download the latest camera drivers.

Windows Update:

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates contain important fixes and improvements for hardware compatibility including biometric recognition features.

Enable Biometric Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  • Ensure that the "Allow facial recognition sign-in with Windows Hello" option is enabled.

Device Manager Checks:

  • Open Device Manager and look for the Realtek camera under "Imaging Devices" or "Cameras."
  • Right-click on the camera device, and select "Update driver," then choose "Search automatically for drivers."
  • If updating doesn’t work, try uninstalling the device and restarting your laptop to let Windows reinstall it automatically.

Windows Hello Setup:

  • If the camera is functioning, attempt to set up Windows Hello again by going to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello Face, and click "Set up" to start the process.

Check Privacy Settings:

  • Navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Ensure that "Camera access" and "Let apps use my camera hardware" are turned on.

Reset Camera App:

  • Sometimes resetting the Camera app can resolve configuration issues.
  • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
  • Find and click on the Camera app, then select "Advanced options" and click "Reset."

Perform Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to run a test on the camera hardware to ensure it is working correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
