@Sagar90, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing issues with your laptop's touchpad, it's not working properly and seems to be clicking on its own. Let's work together to get this resolved.

Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes, a simple reset can fix touchpad glitches:

  • Power off your laptop.
  • Disconnect any external devices (USBs, mouse, etc.).
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power and turn the laptop back on.

Check Touchpad Enable Settings

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad.
  • Ensure the Touchpad toggle is turned ON.

Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers

  • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click on your touchpad device (e.g., Synaptics, ELAN, or HID-compliant touchpad) and choose:
    • Update driver → Search automatically.
    • If that doesn’t help, choose Uninstall device, then restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Check for Windows and HP Updates

  • Open HP Support Assistant (or download it from here - HP Support Assistant | HP® Support).
  • Go to Updates and install any available updates.
  • Also, check Windows Update via Settings > Windows Update.

BIOS Update (if needed)

Sometimes BIOS updates resolve hardware-related issues:

External Factors

If the touchpad is clicking on its own:

  • Ensure the touchpad is clean and free from moisture or debris.
  • If you're using the laptop on your lap, body heat or pressure might be affecting the touchpad. Try using it on a flat surface.

If the issue persists, it might be hardware-related. Then, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - India | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
