I have a less than 1 year old, HP Laptop 15-bs0xx. I use the touchpad that came on the laptop and it has been a problem since new. I normally have to reset the Synaptics Touchpad in mouse properties just to get the mouse to appear. Now it is unusable jumping all over the screen and randomly opening applications. It is disabled now ansi am using the touchpad. What is the solution short of chunking this thing in the trash?

Hi @Oldfordtrk1
Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand the mouse cursor moves and clicks on its own causing issues around the desktop screen.
I need some more information to assist you better. I was not able to pull the details of your computer with the information provided.
- Product Number (Please do not share the serial number of your Notebook on a public forum)
- When was the last time your computer was working without any issues?
Attempt using an alternate/external mouse.
Uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your mouse:
Go to the Device Manager and select your mouse. Uninstall it and then restart your computer. During restart, your mouse driver will automatically be reinstalled.
- 1. Click on Start and type ‘Device Manager’.
- 2. Click Device Manager.
- 3. Click + sign next to Mouse.
- 4. Right-click on mouse entry and choose "uninstall".
- 5. Restart your computer.
Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the reply.,. Model is HP Laptop 15-bs0xx Signature Edition, 64 bit. It was working a little over a week ago. I will give your recommendations a try and report back to you.

After uninstalling and reinstalling the app, the touchpad is now working but using a standard mouse driver. I don't have the fancy touchpad scrolling or zoom capabocapabi but it is functional. Thanks for the advice.

It's great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.
I'm glad to hear you got the mouse working however, you seems to have an issue with the settings no worries, I'll be glad to help you.
I would suggest you follow the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Notebook PCs - Using the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 10)
Let me know if those steps worked for you.
If they did, that’s awesome!

Well the different driver is no longer working. The touch pad left and right buttons have stopped responding. A reboot got the buttons working but once again the mouse is uncontrolable, randomly moving around the screen and selecting and opening whatever application it happens to land on. I am confident it is NOT a settings issue as the mouse is selecting applications in the background as I am attempting to type this response. I am guessing a driver or hardware problem. Any other suggestions?

ok. I have located the tiny little numbers on the back of the laptop. the product ID is 3168NGW. Model 15-bs091ms. The laptop is almost 10 months old, and susposely still under manufacture's warrenty per the vendor that sold it to me and denied my return yesterday. Can I just send this thing in for warrenty repair? Below is the details on the laptop I have.

Well this keeps getting worse and worse. The HP warrenty has expired according to the warranty lookup despite me only owning it for 10 months, guess it sat on the vendor's shelf for 2 months. So we will need to keep up this correspondance so I can get the touch pad working again. now I am using the touch screen and disabled the touch pad so I can keep using it.
