Hi @Souvik22,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If the "S" button on your HP 15s eq2132 au laptop is not functioning properly, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Check for Physical Obstructions:

  • Ensure there is nothing physically blocking the key. Gently remove any dust or debris around the key using compressed air.

Re-seat the Key:

  • If the keycap is loose, gently remove it by prying from the bottom or side, and then press it back into place until it clicks.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure your keyboard drivers are up to date. You can do this through the Device Manager:
    • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
    • Expand the "Keyboards" section.
    • Right-click on your keyboard device and select "Update driver."
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver if an update is available.

Test with an External Keyboard:

  • Connect an external USB keyboard to check if the issue is with the internal keyboard or a software-based problem.
  • If the external keyboard works, the issue is likely hardware-related.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Restart your laptop in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If the key works in Safe Mode, there could be a software conflict causing the problem.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Power off your laptop.
  • Disconnect all peripheral devices, unplug the power adapter, and remove the battery if possible.
  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the power adapter (and battery, if removed) and power on the laptop.

Conduct a System Test:

  • Use HP's diagnostic tools to perform a system test.
  • Turn off your laptop, and then power it on while pressing the "Esc" key repeatedly until the Startup Menu opens.
  • Press "F2" to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics menu and select "Components Tests" followed by "Keyboard."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to test individual keys.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
