Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (599K0AV)

I bought a freedos laptop and set it up myself. My touchpad doesn't show up in device manager and settings. I tried installing drivers but when I install them I am getting an error saying that my hardware doesn't support this driver and it could lead to some problems. When I tried to find the correct driver on HP website it only has windows 11 in OS selection menu. I am using windows 10 but I tried windows 11 drivers and windows 10 drivers from other HP products. I tried installing ELAN and Synaptic touchpad drivers but my laptop won't start when I activate them and restart my laptop.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Touchpad Not Detected – Victus by HP 15-fa0000!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Since the touchpad isn’t showing up in Device Manager or Settings, and installing drivers is causing startup issues, let's try these troubleshooting steps:

Check BIOS for Touchpad Settings

  1. Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS menu.
  2. Navigate to Advanced > Built-in Device Options (or similar).
  3. Look for Touchpad settings and ensure it is Enabled.
  4. Save changes and restart your system.

Check Windows Device Manager (Hidden Devices)

  1. Press Win + X, select Device Manager.
  2. Click View > Show hidden devices.
  3. Expand Human Interface Devices and Mice and other pointing devices.
  4. If you see HID-compliant touchpad or I2C HID Device, right-click and select Enable.

Install Intel Serial IO Driver (Required for Touchpad Functionality)

Since your laptop is not detecting the touchpad, it may be missing the Intel Serial IO driver, which is crucial for touchpad recognition.

  1. Download and install the Intel Serial IO driver from Intel's official site.
  2. Restart your laptop and check if the touchpad is detected.

Install Windows 11 Drivers in Compatibility Mode

Since HP officially supports Windows 11 for your laptop, but you’re using Windows 10, try installing the touchpad driver in compatibility mode:

  1. Download the Windows 11 touchpad driver from the HP Support page.
  2. Right-click the downloaded driver and select Properties.
  3. Go to the Compatibility tab, check Run this program in compatibility mode for:
  4. Select Windows 10 and click Apply > OK.
  5. Install the driver and restart your system.

Reset Windows (If Nothing Works)

If your touchpad is still not detected, there might be a deeper system compatibility issue. You can try resetting Windows 10 or installing Windows 11, which is the officially supported OS for your device.

Let me know if any of these steps help or if you need further assistance! Hopefully, we can get your touchpad back in action soon. 🤞💻

Take care, and have an amazing day!
