HP EliteBook 840 G1 Base Model Notebook PC

Need a valid Feature Byte for a Elitebook 840 g1 with an i5-4300u and Radeon Graphics, I have a replacement board and it didn't come with a feature byte or any other details written to it, it's unlocked and waiting to be written to, I just need a proper example to write else as I understand it the OS won't recognize certain hardware like the GPU.

Can boot into windows but the HP drivers don't appear to recognize that i have a Radeon GPU and keep defaulting to the HD4400 even though i have the required drivers.

Hi @RenardThatch,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you have replaced the system board in your EliteBook 840 G1, and the Radeon graphics are not being detected in Windows.

The feature byte is configuration-specific, so I would not recommend using a feature byte from another 840 G1 as a generic example. The EliteBook 840 G1 was available with optional switchable Radeon graphics, and the graphics hardware is part of the system board rather than a separate upgradeable card.

Because the replacement board did not come with its original configuration information, the safest approach is to have HP determine the correct configuration for that specific board rather than writing an arbitrary feature byte.
