HP Notebook 15-ac674tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My kids slammed my laptop shut last week. If I am diagnosing this issue accurately (based on the photos I am looking at from the HP website of different LCD damages), the CID Defect is: Dark spots in localized areas, an example of Mura defects

Two black spots, mostly white lines.

I have plugged my laptop to the TV with HDMI cable just to see if internally it still works, and it does (thankgod!) My question is, what part (number? code?) do I need to order a replacement LCD? Also, anyone know ballpark figure of repair in Queensland, Australia? I figured if I buy the part and bring it with me to get someone to repair it, it would cost less (would this be a smart or naive move??) Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Yes, I believ you will need to replace the screen.

The part number for the display panel is 813959-001

It should be quite easy to find if you search with the part number online in Australia

Example

https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=813959-001&_sacat=0

The procedure to replace the screen is quite simple. You can leave the display attached to computer and remove the front bezel. Remove the screws holding the display in place, flip the display forward and remove the LCD cable (reapply the tape on the new screen).

On page 64 of service manual at the bottom you can follow the steps to replace screen. You do not need to remove webcam etc...

You can also take a look at these HP videos (display panel bezel and display panel)
