Hi all,
I'm a bit baffled, to sat the least: I just bought a very expensive HP Envy 13', from 2019, with a GPU MX250.
I have it since 2 days and I've been testing it. My older ultrabook is a 2-3yo Lenovo Ideapad with just a regular Intel HD 520.
Can someone explain me why I can do more gaming in my Lenovo than in this HP Envy ?? As a few examples:
Wolrd of Warcraft Classic (very low requirements): Lenovo runs it with no issue vs HP Envy stutters a few times, is not so fluid
Mortalk Kombat 11 (very high requirements): The game allows Lenovo to play at the lowest settings vs The game does not find a way to allow HP Envy to run it stabily.
This is totally unexpected. When I bought this HP I expected it to be ages ahead the Lenovo in any possible term, and now I come to realize I can do more things (and better) with this 2-3yo old Lenovo with no dedicated GP, than I can with an HP Envy from 2019 with a dedicated MX250 😕
Ideas?

@PeRiC, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
What is the exact model of the HP PC you are using?
Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.
For now, let us try these steps to resolve this issue:
Install updates using HP Support Assistant
1. In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2. Check for updates.
3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.
Also, check for any pending Windows update.
Ensure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
Right-click the Windows desktop background (not the Start screen) and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
From the left menu, select Manage 3D settings, the Global Settings tab, and then select the Preferred Graphics processor.
From the list, select which graphics processor setting you would like to use:
Select High-performance if you want to let NVIDIA automatically manage the power and display settings for individual software titles, based on available profiles (see the Program Settings tab).
Select High-Performance if you want to maximize the visual appearance and speed for all software programs at the cost of using more battery power.
Select Integrated graphics if you want to use the least amount of battery power at the cost of an improved graphics experience.
Click Apply and close the Control Panel window when finished.
Refer to this article to know more information about NVIDIA Optimus Graphics with Integrated Intel Graphics.
Also, run a performance tune-up check from this link
Let me know how this goes.
If you feel my post solved your issue, please click “Accept as Solution”, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Hi there,
I had written a lenghty answer to your reply but I see apparently it didnt save. It's not very pertaining at the moment, as I've decided to return the laptop. I'm actually suffering somewhat the same complaints with the replacement I chose (a 13' Asus ultrabook with mx150 and i7 8th gen.) I'm going to give you a small feedback of this, because I believe I'd find the same experience with the HP/ I've been playing with different GPU configurations. If I chose the " Optimize" from the Nvidia app the experience is not good, so I've been playing with lower specs. Still, it goes bonkers. Its not the internet connection (ive tried at home and other networks), its not that i'm pushing the gpu (i'm always playing significantly below the " optimize" specs from the nvidia app), and i guess its not a matter of cpu power either.. The weird thing still remains: The fancy HP i bought delivered a weaker experience than my 3yo Lenovo with no dedicated GPU. The Asus follows the same path as the HP (though I feel the HP stuttured more than the Asus). The game I tested the most was World of Warcraft Classic. It might be something I'm doing wrong, but I definitly can't be blamed for not trying different options. I have no idea why these ultraooks stutter, but the Lenovo doesnt.

Hi, I noticed another thing:
The Lenovo non dedicated graphics show a relativelly low FPS , but very much workable for world of warcraft, of around 40 fps. Stable. The max it ranges is from 35 to 45, but mostly around 40.
While the mx150, shows very high fps (I'm comparing them under the samge graphics configurations), of around 150fps, but shows VERY erratic behavior, with some sudden drops down to below 30fps: 13fps, 20fps. And then it picks up again to 160fps, etc,. Why this erratic behaviour of the mx150? it seems to be the underlying cause. How to make it stable like the non dedicated graphics HD520?
