Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there. Brand new pavillion, seemingly no other issues however the 'up arrow' key has been activating by itself as if it is being kept pressed down, thus randomly scrolling when not wanted. Have tried various settings changes in Windows 10 with no luck. I can tell it is overly sensitive as I barely need to touch it for it to act as if fully pressed. I've brushed around the edge of the key and no obvious debri or dust build up has been removed.

Is there a way to fix this? It seems to be a physical issue. They keys don't look easy to remove and as it is brand new i'm hesitant to try taking it off in case it is damaged and HP won't honour my warranty.

Welcome to HP Support Community

I would like to help

I suggest you run a Keyboard Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality

Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.

- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.

- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Keyboard

Let me know if the problem persists during the Test

Thank you
