HP Pavilion g6-1258er
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I can not update the version of the video driver Nvidia Geforce gt520m. After installing the latest version of the downloaded driver from the official Nvidia site on the hardware, an exclamation mark appears in the device manager in the yellow frame and the video card does not work. Error code 43. The video card works only with an outdated video driver, but all programs have already been updated and many of them do not want to work correctly with the outdated Nvidia video driver. How do I solve the problem?

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I'm afraid, HP does not have any compatible Windows 10 video driver for HP Pavilion g6-1258er Notebook PC. However, you may install the latest drivers using Windows update, HP Support assistant or Nvidia automatic driver updates. You may use the steps available here to update the drivers using Windows Update.

The steps on how to update the computer using HP Support Assistant can be found here. The Nvidia automatic driver update utility can be downloaded from here

Let me know if you have any questions.

On the previous Windows 7 system, there was a similar problem and I could not solve it, I tried different programs for updating the video driver, and the Windows Update Center itself updated my video driver and the video card stopped working because of the same error itself. Only after I downloaded the driver from the official website of the NP, everything started to work. But at the moment the NP site has outdated drivers for my laptop model.

You can try removing the existing display driver and then updating the driver using HP Support Assistant. Use the method below to remove existing display driver:

1.) In Windows, search for and open "Device Manager".

2.) Double-click "Display adapters".

3.) Right-click the graphics device and select "Uninstall". Please makesure that you check the box "Delete driver software for this device"

Once the driver is removed, download and install HP Support assistant from here.  Open HP Support assistance and search for updates, HP Support Assistant should automatically detect and install compatible driver for your PC.
