HP Pavilion - 15-ec1170nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there,

Before I'll describe my problem regarding connecting a monitor to my laptop, here's some info:

- My laptop: HP Pavilion - 15-ec1170nd

- Available relevant external ports (from HP product page): Papzak_0-1606740160513.png

- Purchased monitor: Samsung LF24T400FHUXEN - Full HD IPS Monitor

- Purchased USB-c to HDMI adapter: Sitecom CN-379 adapter

So, since the built-in HDMI-port (no idea how to say this properly in English) in my laptop is already in use, I want to connect my Samsung monitor to my laptop via the Sitecom USB-c to HDMI adapter. I checked if both the monitor and adapter work, and they do:

- The Samsung monitor is working fine when connected via the 'built-in HDMI-port'

- The Sitecom adapter is recognized by the laptop, since my keyboard and wireless mouse work fine through the adapter.

I figured my laptop should be able to recognize my Samsung monitor via the USB-c adapter, however, it does not.

I don't understand why it's not working. Laptop's got the external port(s) to do the trick, so... what now? I'd appreciate any advice! Thank you in advance.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the display is not working when connected to the USB C port on the computer using an adapter.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

The USB C port on your computer doesn’t support display and supports only data transfer and this is the reason why the monitor is not working.

I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!
