My HDMI port was working perfectly fine a few days ago. Now, when I connect my PC to my TV I get a message on the TV saying "Unsupported signal. Please check the device output". I think I have tried everything. Drivers are up to date, I've tried changing the resolution of the display, extending and duplicating the dekstops, etc.
The HDMI cable works fine with other devices (laptop or camera) that I've connected to the TV. I've tried all 4 HDMI ports on the TV but no video signal with my PC. I can hear audio and the TV is recognised by the laptop. It shows up on the Intel control panel.
And like I said, it was working fine a few days ago. Only thing new is that I installed the Windows Fall Creator's Update, I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
I'm at a loss here, I don't know what else to try.
Any ideas please..?

Hi @Josem82,
Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! This is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I reviewed the post regarding HDMI issues with the computer. Fabulous description and excellent troubleshooting were done by you. Great job! Kudos to you on that score.
Stupendous effort on diagnosing the issue correctly. It is always a privilege to work with customers that have superlative technical skills. Kudos to you for that.
For now please try these steps:
- Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
- Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
- Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphic drivers from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers after selecting the correct Operating system.
If the issue persists, I would suggest once again go ahead and uninstall the both the display drivers from Device manager and then restart the computer and then install the graphics card drivers from the Manufacturer's website.
If it still does not fix the issue, please perform the relevant steps for HDMI related issues from this link: HP PCs - Troubleshooting HDMI Display and Sound Issues (Windows 10, 8, 7) regarding video issues. If there is no hardware issue with the computer, this should do the trick for you.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please. Please note that I am not overloading you with a lot of troubleshootingsteps. Instead,
just like you, I am eager to ensure that the problem gets resolved. So I am providing you with more resources and information at your disposal to deal with the situation better.
Let me know if those steps worked for you.
If they did, that’s awesome!

Thanks for your answer.
I tried everything you suggested. Very patiently. Nothing worked.
I had to reset my PC to its factory state and only then it worked again. Then I got the Windows update for the April Creators update and everything kept working fine. Then a few days ago the Fall Creators Update popped up and after installing the update my HDMI port stopped working again! So frustrating!
Unfortunately, I deleted the Windows.old folder so I can't go back to the previous build. I don't want to go through all the hassle of resetting my PC to its factory state, so time consuming. So I'm stuck with a non-working HDMI port which really sucks.
The strange thing is that my wife's HP laptop (older model) got the Fall creators update too and the HDMI port keeps working just fine. My PC's display driver is Intel HD 620 and hers is AMD, so maybe it's got something to do with that.
I don't know what else to do. Hopefully there's a patch or something from Microsoft or from Intel... I don't know. This is so tiresome.
But thanks again for your help Jeet.
