I seem not to be able to find autodimming/auto screen brightness adjustment on my laptop? I checked the display setting but it's not there.

@ender117,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to enable the adaptive brightness feature.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  • Step 1: Open the “Control Panel” in the start menu.
  • Step 2: Find the click on “Power Options”.
  • Step 3: Click “Change plan settings” next to the current power plan.
  • Step 4: Choose “Change advanced power settings”.
  • Step 5: Scroll down and locate the “Display” and expand it for “Enable adaptive brightness.”

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

No it's not in the control panel either.

@ender117,

Are you looking for the auto brightness feature? If yes, then it requires a sensor to detect the light and adjust brightness accordingly.

If you are looking for the brightness feature when the charger is unplugged or the battery percentage drops to a certain level, those settings you can adjust in the power plan settings.

I am looking to have the screen to adjust brightness according to ambient light.

Are you suggesting that it lack the necessary sensors? I am very surprised as this should be a top-of-line product.

Yes auto dimming according to ambient light will not work since the Notebook does not have the required sensors

Thank you
