Pavillion 23xi
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My Pavillion23xi monitor suddenly blanked out as I was working. Power light is off. The AC adapter has a light on it when the power end is plugged in, but when I plug in the monitor end, the light on the AC adapter goes off and nothing happens on the monitor.

Any chance the adapter is bad, or is it more likely the monitor. I'd like to try a different adapter but I'm not sure if I have an identical one, can I use a similar one? (e.g. same output volts but slightly lower amps).

This is about a free-standing monitor connected to a laptop through a docking station. I don't understand why HP has no Forum section for monitors - hope someone see this...

Hi,

It could be that the ac adapter is faulty. If you bring to local repair shop they can probably test it. Yes you can use a different power supply (even universal). The voltage should be the same, slightly lower amp for testing is OK, should be at least 30W power supply.

Hope it helps,

David

Thanks, David. Looks like it's the monitor that's bad as the adapter from my newer monitor (HP 23er) didn't work either.
