HP Probook 640 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey there,

Whenever I try to conenct a USB-c multimedia dongle to my probook, the video signal does not transfer trough to the HDMI ports on the dongle. I have tried two, both USB-C based with similar result. If I plug my coworkers USB Type A dongle, into mine (Daisy Chained) the HDMI video output works through his, but not through mine directly. I have attempted with two seperate hubs; one is a no-name off amazon and the other is J5Create branded. The coworkers that works is also J5Create as well. This tells me the signal is obviously transmititng, but why wont it work with either of my hubs directly? Is there a driver or something for these?

Its specs

          https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05351766#AbT11

It has (1) USB Type-C port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                                     USB to HDMI Adapter

Regards.
