After updating the driver of my touchpad to version 19.5.35.54 it is no longer recognized as a touchpad but rather a normal mouse and thus I cannot adjust the settings.

I would like to answer my own question in case someone else has this same problem. I found that there is now a Synaptics app that was automatically installed which allows me to adjust the settings of the touchpad rather than going through the traditional windows setting mode. I put "touchpad" in the search bar of Windows and the app showed up!
