Pavilion 14
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP Pavilion 14-dv0007na. Still under warranty (5 months left) but HP website gives no option to send in for repair (unless i am missing something obvious).

The laptop display suddenly stopped working. Blank screen despite rest of laptop powering up. Hard reset & BIOS restore does not work. Saw troubleshooting tip to remove battery and reset = unsuccessful. While removing-replacing battery saw the video display connector on motherboard has large black deposits on one side of the connector only. Rest of cable and rest of motherboard looks clean. Disconnected the cable from connector and saw that the black deposits covered cable part on one side with two gold contacts missing on cable. Rest of cable and connection part had all gold contacts intact. Looking at the connector itself it had black deposits on same side that cover the gold pins. Used microscopy lens cleaning tissue to careful remove excess black deposits and reconnected connector. Now at startup the display flickers briefly once but still comes to black screen. Any suggestions how I can get this repaired under warranty?

The dv7 could be more than 6 years now. Are you sure it still has 5 months warranty ? You can call HP in your country.

Regards.

So with UK HP support it has been proven impossible to organise a repair under warranty. I always end up at the HP community forum - no phone number to call, no form to fill in. HP Service Centres in the UK will only deal with printers and some Samsung products but not HP laptops. If anyone can tell me how to get this laptop sent for repair I would be very grateful.
