HP Pavilion - 14-ce3011ng
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Pavilion 14 ce3011ng ... 1035g4, mx130... 1080p IPS

It is endlessly annoying that the screen reduces brightness AND ESPECIALLY CONTRAST when the content is dark. eg. When I preview a vertical picture in the Win10 "Photos" app and the sides are black, (see the screenshot for example)

I can watch the colours and contrast of the picture gradually fade... then when I switch back to a white document or website, I can watch the contrast/brightness go back to normal.
How can I disable this?
It has nothing to do with ambient sensors, it is purely a matter of screen content.

Win10 doesn't give me any options for adaptive brightness anywhere, neither in Settings, nor in "advanced power options" under "display". The Intel Graphics Command Center has no setting for this, I've checked it all. The nVidia Control Panel doesn't either. Some people mention AMD VariBright, but I have no AMD in the system.

I've tried registry tweaks including Disable CABC... nothing has helped.

I'd really appreciate, if anyone knows how to get rid of this...
