Hi @JBS67,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
It seems like your HP 235 Wireless Keyboard might have some key functions locked or disabled. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check for Function Lock (Fn Lock)
- Some keyboards have an "Fn Lock" key that can toggle the functionality of certain keys. Look for a key labeled Fn or Fn Lock on your keyboard.
- Unlock Function Keys: If you find the Fn Lock key, press Fn + Fn Lock or just Fn Lock to toggle the function lock off and restore normal key behavior.
2. Check for Num Lock or Scroll Lock
- Ensure that the Num Lock or Scroll Lock keys are not activated, as they can sometimes cause unusual keyboard behavior.
- Toggle Off: Press the Num Lock and Scroll Lock keys to turn them off.
3. Reset Keyboard Settings
- Windows Key + Spacebar: Pressing this combination can sometimes reset the input method or keyboard settings, restoring normal key functions.
- Language Settings: Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language and make sure the correct keyboard layout is selected. If necessary, add the correct layout and remove any incorrect ones.
4. Replace Keyboard Batteries
- Sometimes, low battery power can cause some keys to stop functioning. Replace the batteries in your wireless keyboard to see if that resolves the issue.
5. Reconnect the Wireless Receiver
- Unplug and Replug: If your keyboard connects via a USB wireless receiver, unplug the receiver and plug it back in after a few seconds.
- Re-pair the Keyboard: If your keyboard and mouse combo supports re-pairing, try re-pairing them with the wireless receiver.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @JBS67,
Please find the next steps below.
6. Check for Stuck Keys
- Inspect the keyboard for any keys that might be physically stuck or pressed down. If you find any, gently lift them to ensure they aren't causing the issue.
7. Check Accessibility Settings
- Sticky Keys: Ensure that the Sticky Keys feature is not turned on by accident:
- Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
- Turn off Sticky Keys if it is enabled.
- Filter Keys: Similarly, make sure Filter Keys is not turned on, as this can cause some keys to become unresponsive.
8. Test the Keyboard on Another Device
- If possible, connect the keyboard to another computer or device to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the keyboard or the computer it is connected to.
9. Driver Updates
- Device Manager: Open Device Manager by pressing Windows + X and selecting Device Manager.
- Update Drivers: Expand the Keyboards section, right-click on your wireless keyboard, and select Update driver. Follow the prompts to check for any updates.
- Reinstall Drivers: If updating doesn’t help, try uninstalling the keyboard driver and restarting your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
10. Perform a Hard Reset
- Shut Down: Turn off your computer completely.
- Disconnect the Wireless Receiver: Unplug the wireless receiver if it’s connected via USB.
- Power Drain: If possible, remove the battery from your laptop or hold the power button down for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Restart: Reconnect everything and turn the computer back on to see if the keyboard functions normally.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, it could be a hardware problem with the keyboard itself, and it might need to be replaced. If the keyboard is still under warranty, consider contacting HP Phone Support for a replacement or repair.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
