HP Pavilion dv9500 Entertainment Notebook PC series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I recently upgraded the o/s on the above mentioned laptop to Windows 10 64 bit as a result of a free offer.

The Resource Manager shows physical memory useage at 82%. Is this why the Laptop is now very slow?

1. Would upgrading memory on this 10 year old laptop be worth it? I believe the maximum would be 4 Gig of Ram OR?

2. Also looking for a Nvidia video card driver updates, presently the Video driver being used is the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter> and now the 17" display now sucks!

thanks in advance for any response!

RS

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand you need assistance with upgrade/driver information,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you check the product specifications on the HP website?

(Click here to verify a generic model within the Dv9000 series)

While you respond to that, here's what you need to know!

I'm afraid your laptop doesn't support more than 2GB of memory,

And upgrading the laptop would be a better choice than upgrading it's parts considering its age & if you haven't checked the HP website for drivers yet, Click here to find and install it.

That said, if you wish to improve it's performance, here are a few things that may help:

Go to the HP Guided Troubleshooting Solution to resolve problems related to your computer's performance, OR follow the steps below.

Perform regular maintenance to enhance the performance of your computer. Use the information in this document to control when applications run, adjust how your computer uses memory resources, and reduce heat inside your computer.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE STEPS AND INSTRUCTIONS.
(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

I reinstalled Windows10 and the video driver program seemed to rectify itself, the display is quite nice now

As for the memory upgrade thanks for the answer I won't plan on spending any money on this laptop.

Thanks
