Omni 10
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

OMNI 10 tablet with Windows 10. Originally had Windows 8 of course.

I have been plagued by Touchscreen not responding for years now. I rather think it started when I upgraded to Windows 10.

I have tried many things over the years, like so many others have. Sometimes it is flaky( only every few presses operates anything) and sometimes a full dead touchscreen.

The source, as many have homed-in on is the I2C HID drivers. I usually fixed it by re-installing the audio drivers (they include the HID drivers and so always restored touchscreen operation.

However, the thing always fails again.

Recently I noticed another forum mention a notebook with similar problem.  The poster found the HID drivers had their power management tab set to allow windows to  power down to save energy! (Some words similar to that).

Yes- I found that too. So I removed the tick in those tabs and will try from now on.

By the way, the drivers' description said  "I2C HID Device (This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed."  when I opened the properties in Device Manager.  That could make sense if the power management system turned it off and maybe the system could not communicate with it then.
