Ub6424; I installed both Synaptic applications and neither of them will get my touchpad/Control Zone going. I went to Device Manager and it shows the Synaptics SMbus TouchPad there, but when you check properties, it says This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all it's drivers installed. When I then go to update drivers, I get the message that the best drivers for your device are already installed.

I thank you very much for you help.

Hello Ub6424;

I tried the Hardware ID, but this device was completely deleted by me years ago, and it only showed up again after I used the .exe programs you sent me. So that's the only reason it shows up again in my device manager. There isn't any information about it at all. I think I'll just keep using a plug-in mouse and the touch screen and give up on the control zone touchpad. I appreciate all the help you've given, but I don't know if it's worth the trouble. I do have a brand new HP laptop as a replacement for this one, so again, thank you very much. boboskee

Hello @boboskee

(1) Go to windows device manager and uninstall the touchpad device and confirm.

(2) The click menu 'Action' and click 'Scan for hardware changes'

(3) Then look for (unknown) devices with an exclamation mark and send me the hardware ID.

Please report your results
