Pale text in Windows 11 frames

Hi @CitizenRachid

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for raising this—pale or washed-out text can make everyday tasks feel unnecessarily straining. To improve pale or low-contrast text in Windows 11 frames, adjust contrast settings, enable ClearType, and fine-tune display scaling. These changes can bring back crisp, legible text across your system.

Let’s bring clarity and comfort back to your screen with a few focused adjustments:

1. Enable and Tune ClearType Text

ClearType smooths font edges and enhances readability:

  • Press Windows + S, type ClearType, and select “Adjust ClearType text”.
  • Ensure “Turn on ClearType” is checked.
  • Follow the on-screen steps to fine-tune font rendering.

2. Adjust Display Scaling and Resolution

Incorrect scaling can cause text to appear faint or blurry:

  • Right-click the desktop and select Display settings.
  • Under Scale, try 125% or 100% (whichever looks sharper).
  • Under Display resolution, choose the Recommended setting (e.g., 1920 × 1080).

3. Switch to a Higher Contrast Theme (Optional)

If the frame text remains too pale:

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Contrast themes.
  • Try “Desert” or “Dusk” for better frame text visibility.
  • Click Apply, and preview how it affects window borders and titles.

4. Tweak Visual Effects for Best Appearance

  • Press Windows + R, type sysdm.cpl, and press Enter.
  • Go to the Advanced tab > Settings under Performance.
  • Select Adjust for best appearance, or manually enable:
    • Smooth edges of screen fonts
    • Use visual styles on windows and buttons

Let’s see how these changes feel visually. If the text still lacks clarity, we can explore font rendering overrides or custom themes next.
