Hi there, I'm afraid the direct message you referred to that I received was just somone asking for my personal details in order to escalate the issue up the chain, from which I later received a phone call. However the issue could not be solved from this phone call as the "expert" I spoke to just insisted my adapter was broken and offered no solution. I think this issue is very frustratingly just a case of false advertising on HP's part. I'm fairly sure at this point the specifications are just wrong sadly. Sorry I can't help further.

Hello @Bidib_en,
I regret to inform you that the HP Pavilion - 14-ce0009nf suffers from incorrect web specifications.
The correct specifications are listed in the 2 documents below which specify that the USB-C port only supports data transfer.

@thegadget_777 what model do you have?

Thanks for your answer @eddyK, although it a very unsatisfying answer, at least I have one.
So what does HP will provide as a solution ? I cannot return the PC as the return-merchandise period is over.
I have spent quite a lot of time , energy and a few bucks trying several USB-C docks.

HP Pavillion ce0505sa USB-Type C to DisplayPort 1.2 . As others in the thread, I too bought the i7 version of this laptop requiring the ability to support USB-C to display port, as was and is clearly stated in the specifications.
HP please advise - including if necessary by the DM you seem to prefer over publicly available information. Thank you.

@MikeQ1
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
To convert the DisplayPort connector on an HP Notebook to a dual-link DVI port, the following adapter is required. The adapter has a latching DisplayPort connector on one end and a USB connector and DVI-D connector on the other end for connecting to a DVI monitor cable.
NOTE: The USB cable of the DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI-D adapter is for power only and should be connected to one of the system's rear USB ports. USB hubs may not provide sufficient power and are not recommended for use with this adapter.
Key Benefits of HP DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI-D Adapter
- Converts a graphics card's DisplayPort output to dual link DVI
- Resolution up to 2560x1600
- Supports all HP monitors that feature a dual link DVI interface, including the HP LP3065 30-inch Wide-screen LCD Monitor
- Latching DP connector for a secure connection.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

@Echo_Lake your response has NOTHING to do with the query. The laptop specified does not have a display port connector. That is the whole point. It has a USBC which the SPECIFICATION states can generate a displayport signal. THE HP SPEC IS INCORRECT - it does NOT do so. What is HP going to DO about false advertising and specifications? What COMPENSATION for that falsehood and for this level of incompetence will be given to customers who purchase such incorrectly specified HP products? Why are you adding insult to injury by posting such ill considered 'responses' to this forum?

Mike I couldn’t have said this better. I am absolutely frustrated by the incompetence that is HP.
Aside from that, clearly a company with no ethical values. I’m a Chartered Accountant by trade, I cannot believe their complete lack of empathy by this issue nor that they have failed to attempt to remedy this situation - even worse is that they still haven’t altered the information page about this model which still contains the misrepresentation!
I’ve had to buy another laptop in the meantime. Two purchased instead of one and here on this forum they have made NO options for us in recourse.
I’ve learnt one very important thing here - STAY AWAY FROM HP!
HP, I truly mean this in the best way possible - you and I are done, never again will I recommend your products to any family, business or friends again. Dell wouldn’t be ok with letting something like this slide.
