Hello,
I have tried number of KVM docks with this laptop, but none has the main features I need, which are to support dual monitors and EDID emulation to preserve window positions when switching back and forth between two laptops. As it is now, every time I switch, all my applications which are distributed across my two monitors get moved back to one monitor (designated as Display 1 in Windows). I need to preserve window positions because I'm studying cybersecurity and need to have a bunch of different things open at once, and I need to them to stay in place when I switch between my two source laptops.
My question here is: Can I use the HDMI port for one monitor and one USB port (using a USB-to-HDMI cable) for the other monitor? The only docks that support EDID emulation require dual video inputs (either HDMI or DP), so I can't use the ones that use single USB video connections (like the StarTech 129N).

Hi @Greengecko,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.
I see that there is an issue with connecting dual monitor to your laptop and the support here is limited.
This issue might require one-on-one interaction to fix it.
