Pavilion X360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello Experts,

I am seeing black screen (some times black and white stripes) in my HP pavilion x360 notebook for the past week. But it is working perfectly fine when using with extended monitor with HDMI cable. There is not even slight slump in the performance. Its working rock solid.

To fix black screen issue, i did the following, But nothing works.

  • I have installed HP assistant, updated the suggested BIOS directly in the computer.
  • Installed latest Display drivers, chipset drivers listed for my device in the HP drivers page
  • tried pressing windows + B and power button to update the BIOS

Weird thing is that, i CANT even see HP BOOT SCREEN or BIOS SCREEN. Its black right from the beginning. Sometimes it flicks and turn into black and white stripes. All i am seeing is one white line in the top of the screen.

I thought of formatting the drive and install brand new OS. But even for that, i need to see the BIOS screen to change the BOOT options. Now, i am totally stuck.

Please guide me what to do next. Is it a driver issue, OS issue or LCD display issue?

I don't see any fractured screen or random lines. Either it is total dark/ White and dark stripes/ or black and white with CRT like display. So. I guess it doesn't seem like a LCD display hardware issue. Please help me.

Thanks in advance!!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you checked the display on an external monitor?

let’s try these steps to resolve the problem:

I recommend you attempt to access the BIOS screen by tapping on F10 while the computer is restarting,

If the issue persists in the BIOS screen which is outside windows, it would confirm a hardware failure.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for the response!!

It is working fine when connecting to an external monitor using hdmi cable.

Its black/white lines right from beginning. I couldn't see the hp logo. I pressed F10 while restarting the notebook, but it's still dark. I can confirm that it stuck in the BIOS screen, but couldn't see anything in the screen.

This is how it looks in random scenarios.

If this is hardware issue, please guide me where to buy the replacement part? If there is any chance of loose connection, please advise how to validate it.

I bought it around two years before and It was handled very gentle. And I don't remember any harsh handling or even minor shake/ drop/ accident.  😞

Thank you!!

Thank you for posting back.

This sounds like hardware related issue with the internal display.
