@BobbieWinter, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Based on the situation you've described, it seems your HP Pavilion 16-inch laptop is encountering issues when trying to connect external monitors via the Selore 14-in-1 docking station at home. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot this problem:
Preliminary Checks
- Verify that the Selore 14-in-1 docking station is compatible with your HP Pavilion laptop.
- Ensure the HDMI and USB-C cables are properly connected and not damaged.
Steps to Troubleshoot
- Power Cycle: Disconnect the docking station from power and reconnect it. Ensure all cables are securely connected.
- Alternative Connections: Try using different HDMI or USB-C cables to rule out faulty cables.
- Monitor Input Source: Check if the external monitors are set to the correct input source (HDMI or USB-C).
- Driver Update: Make sure your laptop has the latest BIOS and device drivers installed. Visit HP’s support page to get the latest updates.
- Docking Station Drivers: If the docking station requires specific drivers, ensure they are installed and up-to-date. Check Selore’s website for any necessary dock firmware updates.
Configuration Steps
Display Settings:
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Check if the external monitors are detected under Multiple Displays.
- If detected, configure as needed (duplicate, extend, second screen only).
Advanced Settings:
- Navigate to Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Display. Adjust the display settings to ensure proper detection and configuration.
Power and Performance Settings
- Prevent Sleep/Hibernation:
- Go to Control Panel -> Power Options -> Choose what closing the lid does.
- Select Do nothing for both plugged-in and on battery options.
Using Windows Key + P
- Quick Display Configuration:
- Press Windows Key + P and select your preferred display configuration (Duplicate, Extend, Second screen only).
