Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi.. upgraded a Pavilion dv3 from Windows 7 to Windows 10... mostly working apart from the Radeon Mobility HD5000 graphics. The system crashes to blue screen with the error message "Video TDR Failure" atikmpag.sys I can get the laptop working in safe mode to disable the graphics driver and have tried reinstalling latest drivers in safe mode and under normal windows but It doesn't help.

Any ideas?

Thanks

@Richard153,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting an error after upgrading to Windows 10.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I checked and see that there are no drivers available for your computer for Windows 10. I recommend you install all the Windows updates (including optional) and check if it helps.

Here is how it is done.

Open the Settings menu and go to Update & security > Windows Update. Click Check for updates to prompt your PC to scan for the latest updates. The update will be downloaded and installed automatically. Click Restart Now to restart your PC and complete the installation process.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi, I've tried this many times over the past week or so and have searched for new drivers on the HP and AMD sites. The problem persists.. if I install the drivers all is well, the computer works, that is until I restart, then back to blue screen again. Safe mode allows me to disable the driver and restart... disabled has now put the device into "unknown" in the device manager... If I try to update the driver from device manager  I get message " The data area passed to a system call is too small" windows auto update brings error message 0x8007007a

Thanks for the assistance, much appreciated.

@Richard153
Thank you for posting back.

The last thing I can suggest restore the computer back to the factory settings.
Performing an HP system recovery (Windows ) While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
