Hello! I have been using my laptop to handwrite notes in OneNote (the latest version), and I've also doodled in SketchBook every now and then. I've noticed that I have issues with the pen (the one that came with the laptop) skipping what I write randomly. It's happened enough that I am wondering if it's worth it to get an iPad with their pencil instead.
Everything is updated. I have few apps installed other than OneNote and Sketchbook, and this issue has happened for the past three weeks. I didn't use it to draw/write until school started three weeks ago, so I can't say for sure if it happened before.
I've also been using the Bamboo Ink pen, and my issue wasn't resolved.
I'm at a loss on what to do. It's frustrating with how often my flow is interrupted because a couple of letters were ignored, or a straight line in a diagram has a huge gap in it.
Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this? Is HP aware of this issue?

I would reinstall the drivers as @The_Fossette suggests.
I wonder if your issue is with what is termed 'palm rejection' - the inhibition of touch input when the pen is in use. This is not the easiest thing for any touch and pen input system to handle and sometimes the imperfections in the technology can show in some skipping in pen input. There is not supposed to be any inhibition of pen input, but it can happen on any system. Some are worse than others.
It can help to keep you pen in proximity (i.e. the 'dot' being displayed as you hover the pen near the screen) as far as possible when in use. If your writing style results in you repeatedly lifting the pen out of proximity between letters or words, you give the palm rejection algorithm a harder time.
It can also help to wear what is sometimes called an artist glove on the hand you use to hold your pen - this is a glove that covers your palm, your little finger and your index finger only. There's numerous examples on amazon.com - click here for one I picked at random. This not only gives palm rejection an easier time but it helps prevent the transfer of skin oils to the screen.

Thank you for the suggestions. I reinstalled the two drivers just now.
I actually bought an art glove when I purchased the laptop, so I don't think it's an issue of palm rejection. Also, the skipping happens regardless if I pick up the pen or not; it'll often happen while I'm drawing a continuous line, so there ends up being a break in the line.

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.
I recommend you perform a reset on the computer and check whether the issue is resolved.
Follow the steps in the below artilce to perform a system reset.
