Pipe symbol for HP Pavilion laptop

Dear ,

I am very much confused, I brought new HP Pavilion laptop, but the @ symbol is showing on key 2 but pressing with shift produces "(double quotes)

I want to use Pipe symbol, it is showing on top of Enter key but pressing shift produces ~# these keys.

Please help me for both @ and Pipe symbol, @ i am getting with shift+doubleqoute key.

Thanks HP Support, Freddy, who guided me to add English US Language and installed it. Now both @ and | pipe symbol are working. 

After signout the chat window got closed, so i forgot his exact name but it was like freddy. thanks .
