ProBook 440 G6/G7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi Community!

Is it Possible to drive 2x DisplayPort 2560x1440 and charge over USB-C with the following Setup?

Windows 10 Pro 64

  • ProBook 440 G6 (7DE92EA#ABD)
  • USB-C-Dockingstation G5 (5TW10AA#ABB)

and

  • ProBook 440 G7 (8VU45EA#ABD)
  • USB-C-Dockingstation G5 (5TW10AA#ABB)

What is the exact Naming/Spec of the USB-C Port of the two listed Notebooks?

Or should we use the HP Thunderbolt Dock G2, 120W (2UK37AA#ABB) instead?

Thank you so much.

So, I've now tried the following setup:

  • ProBook 440 G7 (8VU45EA#ABD)
    • Intel Core i7-10510U-Prozessor
    • Intel UHD Graphics 620
  • USB-C-Dockingstation G5 (5TW10AA#ABB) (Firmware: 1.0.8.0 Rev.A)
  • 2x DisplayPort connected to dock

1st: charging over USB-C works.

2nd: It is not possible to run 2 Monitors with 2560x1440. (one of the two have to be 1920x1080 max)

After enabling the settings in BIOS:

"Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock"

it is possible to drive 2 Monitors with 2560x1440 but as mentioned when you enable the setting:

"All USB devices in a dock will connect at USB2 speeds, and the Gigabit NIC will experience reduced performance when High Resolution mode is enabled."

So it is a nogo to use the dock with this restrictions.

Do you have an idea how to run it without enabling this setting?

I've found this table in the Quick Specs [2] of the dock:

2020-04-07 10_08_55-HP Dock Solutions.png

2.5K = 2560 x 1600 or 2560 x 1440

What dose the Multi-Funktion DP versions mean for my setup?

So my question is, is this a problem of the Notebook or of the Dock?

So there is no Information that you have to enable the High Resolution mode in BIOS to use that setup.
