HP Spectre 16-aa000 1nb
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I need help connecting my hp recheargable stylus to my laptop. It's a HP Spectre 16-aa000 1nb. I tried everything, bluetooth, settings but nothing seems to work. What can I try and how can I  ensure that my laptop is able to connect to MPP2.0 stylus. And if it isn't capable of doing that, is it still possible to use it ? Thank you in advance for your support .

Hi @Gaël_de_wolf,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

You're doing everything right by trying Bluetooth and checking settings. Let’s walk through how to connect your HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen to your HP Spectre 16-aa000 1nb, and confirm compatibility.

Is Your Spectre 16-aa000 Compatible with MPP 2.0?

Yes, the HP Spectre x360 16-aa000 series supports Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP) 2.0, which means your stylus should work without needing Bluetooth pairing for basic writing and drawing functions.

How to Use the Stylus (No Bluetooth Needed for Writing)

The pen should work automatically when you touch it to the screen:

  • Make sure the pen is fully charged (via USB-C)
  • Touch the pen tip to the screen. Windows Ink should activate
  • You can use apps like OneNote, Whiteboard, or Sketchpad

If it doesn’t respond, try restarting your laptop and checking for Windows updates.

Bluetooth Pairing (Optional for Button Functions)

If your stylus has buttons (top or side), pairing via Bluetooth enables shortcuts like:

  • Opening apps
  • Taking screenshots
  • Erasing

To pair via Bluetooth:

  1. Press and hold the top button on the pen for 3 seconds until the LED turns solid blue
  2. On your laptop:
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Add device
    • Select Bluetooth
    • Choose an HP Tilt Pen or a similar one from the list
    • Click Done

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
