HP 14-r004tu notebook PC (energy star)
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello

I am using HP 14-r004tu notebook PC (energy star). My PC inbuilt camera (HP Truevision HD) not working.

Whenever I open the camera it shows error To get started, connect a camera. Cyberlink YouCam5 also not able to connect to HP Truevision HD.

I have already tried HP PCs-Webcam troubleshoot provided in PCs webcam troubleshoot. Apart from this, I also forcefully uninstalled the HP Truevision HD  software from  device manager and restarted the device but no improvement.

Please, anyone can help me???

I reviewed your post and I understand that the webcam is not working on your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

When was the last time the webcam was working fine?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and run a test on the webcam to make sure whether it is a hardware or a software issue.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thank you for reply.

I performed a run using the component test on the webcam.

Below is my result.

Type                               Instance                                        Action Needed          Result
Webcam Test           HP Truevision HD                          More info                     Passed
Webcam Test            CyberLink Webcam Splitter      -----------                   FAILED

Please let me know, what to do next??

It looks like the webcam test failed. I recommend you contact support and check the available service options for your computer.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

The test for default webcam driver which is HP Truevision HD, passed. But the CyberLink splitter (just add-ons for the webcam) test was failed.

Is it a hardware or software problem??

If the webcam test didn't return any error then it confirms that the webcam is working fine and it is a software issue. However, I recommend you contact support and they will be able to take remote of your computer and check this for you.
