Sure thing!
I have a problem with my USB-C to HDMI adapter, it no longer shows an image on my second external monitor, yesterday it gave an image perfectly and today it doesn't anymore, I tried it with another laptop and it gives an image perfectly, however, when I connect it to my laptop it already It doesn't work, I tried updating graphics drivers and universal serial bus controllers, I also tried updating the BIOS firmware and I tried all the self-diagnostic tests of the HP program, I also checked the BIOS configuration, which I left at default, I restored the power, I tried with the NVIDIA Control Panel and nothing, I tried using the USB-C input with other USB-C to USB adapters and it transfers data and power correctly since I charged another device with a cable and connected my mouse through that adapter, I also tried starting Windows in safe mode and later reset Windows, the CPU and GPU seem to work fine, I tried disabling the CPU temporarily and the GPU still did not detect the monitor, the problem still persists, any recommendations on how to fix this?

Hi @pabloordenesu,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I can understand how frustrating it must be to deal with the issue of not being able to connect your second monitor, especially after trying so many troubleshooting steps already. Let’s work together to find a solution for you.
- Can you confirm if the issue occurs with any USB-C to HDMI adapter, or is it just the one you initially used?
- Have you tried connecting your laptop to another external monitor using the same USB-C to HDMI adapter to rule out the possibility of a monitor-specific issue?
- Does your laptop detect the second monitor at all, or is it completely invisible in the display settings, even when trying to manually detect it?
Let's try these steps.
Test the USB-C Port with Another HDMI Adapter or Cable:
Since you mentioned trying another laptop with the adapter and it worked fine, it’s worth testing another HDMI cable or adapter with your laptop. This can help rule out any issues with the cable or adapter itself.
Check Display Settings in Windows:
Go to Settings > System > Display and click on the Detect button to see if your laptop can find the second monitor manually. If the display is detected, you may need to adjust the settings to extend or duplicate your display.
Check for USB-C Port Power Delivery and Display Output Configuration:
Verify if the USB-C port on your laptop is configured to support video output. Some ports may only support power/data transfer but not video output. If possible, refer to your laptop's manual to ensure that the port you're using is video-capable (DisplayPort Alternate Mode).
Perform a Hardware Reset:
While you mentioned restoring power, it might be worth performing a full hardware reset again. Turn off your laptop, disconnect any peripherals, hold the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge residual power, and then restart the laptop.
Update Graphics and USB Drivers Again:
Even though you've tried updating the drivers already, sometimes manually reinstalling them can resolve any overlooked conflicts. Go to Device Manager, right-click on both your Display Adapters (GPU) and Universal Serial Bus Controllers, and select Uninstall Device. After restarting the laptop, Windows should automatically reinstall the necessary drivers.
If none of these work, there may be an issue with the laptop’s USB-C port or a deeper system issue that requires further assistance from HP phone support for repair or service options.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hello, thanks for responding, I confirm that it happens with any USB-C to HDMI adapter, I also tested the adapter and the monitor on another different laptop and they work, the laptop does not detect the monitor, it is completely invisible, I tried to add it manually but it is impossible , I tried the display settings and the nvidia control panel, the USB-C port supports DP, I did the hardware reset but the screen still doesn't detect, I also uninstalled the universal serial bus controllers, but nothing seems to work.
I will mention that while I was doing some programming work with the laptop plugged in my screen went black and the computer shut down without even putting on the screen that it was shutting down it just went black and shut down I thought it might be a problem power or hardware but doing a self-diagnosis with the HP software I see that everything is fine.
