Example: HP laptop 15-dw0xxx

I have a problem. After half an hour working on my laptop, it looses control. The websites start to close and open, and a square appears in the middle of the scree. Then I have in my notifications this message: Display driver failed to start; using Microsoft Basic display Driver instead. Check windows Update for a new display driver.

I do that, but the problem is not solved. Can someone help me with this?

@Yanibst Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are facing issues with display drivers.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Please uninstall the display drivers from the device manager and install the new drivers. Update the  BIOS.

Try updating the computer, this will install the latest updates -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Hi, I did what you told me, but it did not work. I do not know if I am doing it wrong. Is there a way you could do this remotely?

@Yanibst

I understand your concerns.

We do not have the option to take the remote control of your computer.

I would suggest you contact our phone support. They will take the remote control and resolve the issue.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.

Have a nice day!!
