Hi @Ben3357,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Laptop PC 15's screen is broken and it's not projecting to an external monitor, you can try the following steps.
Check the Connections:
- Ensure the external monitor is properly connected to your laptop via HDMI, VGA, or other appropriate cables.
- Verify that the monitor is powered on and set to the correct input source.
Use Keyboard Shortcuts:
- On most HP laptops, you can switch display modes using a keyboard shortcut. Press Fn + F4 (or F5, F7, or F8 depending on your laptop model) to toggle between display modes. Look for a key with a monitor icon.
Adjust Display Settings:
- If you have a working external monitor, try connecting a USB keyboard and mouse to navigate to the display settings. Right-click on the desktop, select Display settings, and see if you can detect and configure the external monitor.
Check for BIOS Settings:
- Restart your laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing Esc, F10, or F2 during startup). Look for display settings and ensure that external display options are enabled.
Try Safe Mode:
- Boot your laptop into Safe Mode. If the external monitor works in Safe Mode, it could indicate a driver issue.
Test with Another Monitor/Cable:
- If possible, try using a different monitor or cable to rule out issues with the current setup.
External Display Detection:
- Sometimes, external monitors might not automatically detect the signal. Press Win + P and select the appropriate display option (e.g., Duplicate, Extend, Second screen only).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
