I have a problem with my laptop screen, a week ago I updated my device and after that flickering purple colors started appearing on the screen. The laptop has not been dropped or hit, it appeared out of nowhere. After updating, this problem started. This happens once I unlock the laptop and start something, an application?
Attached is a picture of what it looks like.

Hi @Adri4n,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The purple flickering on your HP Pavilion 15 screen could be related to a few potential issues, especially since it started after a recent update. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Go to the Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select "Device Manager").
- Expand the "Display adapters" section, right-click your graphics adapter, and select "Update driver."
- Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for any pending updates and install them.
Rollback Recent Updates:
- If the issue began after a specific update, you might want to roll back that update.
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates.
Adjust Display Settings:
- Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
- Adjust the resolution and refresh rate to see if that makes any difference.
Check for Physical Issues:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the purple flickering occurs on the external display as well. This can help determine if the issue is with the laptop screen or the graphics card.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off your laptop, disconnect all peripherals, and remove the battery (if removable). Hold down the power button for 15 seconds, then reconnect the battery and power up the laptop.
Run HP Support Assistant:
- Open the HP Support Assistant on your laptop and run the diagnostic tests. It may help identify any hardware issues.
Check for BIOS Update:
- Sometimes a BIOS update can resolve display issues. Check the HP support website for any available BIOS updates for your model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
