Re: battery is drained while shut off, and the hp spectre x2 wont recognize my stylus

Riddle_Decipher, please help me!  I have the same battery-drain-while-off problem with my HP Spectre x2 Detachable, Product Number M0E74AV, System Board 8146 17.35, System BIOS F.25, running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.  According to HP Updates, there is not a more-current BIOS available.  The unit passes both the Battery Test (both with and without the AC adapter attached) and the AC Adapter tests.  When off, with the unit closed, the area behind the top of the screen, a couple inches above the HP logo, feels warm.  So something continues to run and drain the battery.  This is driving me nuts.  Please help!

Mike

Re: battery is drained while shut off, and the hp spectre x2 wont recognize my stylus

@TorranceMike,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Have you followed all the steps suggested in the thread?

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.

Here is how you do it.

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

If you continue facing the issue, then I recommend you perform a reset on the computer following the steps in the below article.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thanks The_Fossette, but reinstalling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery didn't help, and I'm not willing to go the Windows Reset route since it will kill all my apps and require a reinstall from scratch.  There must be a better way to solve this don't you think???

@TorranceMike,

I recommend you download and install the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

Re: battery is drained while shut off, and the hp spectre x2 wont recognize my stylus

I had this problem a while back , laptop would empty battery after shutdown , hp bios update to the latest version didnt help .

Try to install an older version , or any other bios from the site, if the latest one isnt working. Try downloading an older version .

I had this problem a while back ,( more than 7 months ) .

I downloaded an old bois version , laptob worked perfect , no issues at all .

After being certain that my laptob was fine and the battery wasn't being drained over night. I downloaded the latest version of bios after 1 month operating on the older version.

Goodluck Mike.
