Spectre x360 Convertable 13-ac0XX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Spectre automatically updated something and rebooted this afternoon. I'm not sure what was updated because it was automatic. Since the update, my touchpad no longer works as I had initially configured it. I attempted to go into the Touchpad settings, but the touchpad settings are no longer there.

For an example of what I mean, see this image: https://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/reverse-scroll-direction-in-windows-10/attachment/clickpa...

That is what it's supposed to look like when I go to Devices > Touchpad > Additional Settings. That is what it has always looked like in the past. When I attempt to go there now, the "ClickPad Settings" tab is no longer there and I'm no longer able to configure my touchpad. (All of the other tabs remain unchanged.)

I have gone through HP Support Assistant and updated my BIOS, as well as installed every other update in the queue. I have updated my touchpad drivers (both automatically and manually), and even deleted and reinstalled them. None of these actions have resolved my issue. I've also scanned for viruses and malware.

I'm on a Spectre x360 13-ac0XX running Windows 10 Home 64-bit Version 18362.535.

Hi ARH00,

Did you have the unofficial lenovo precision trackpad drivers installed? Last night on my Spectre 13t-ae013dx with those drivers installed I received an update that completely broke the trackpad in the way you just described. HP is clearly able to enable these on their end as the recent BIOS updates to gem cut models shows, so if any hardware devs at HP see this thread, please do that. As for a temporary solution, if you delete the driver and device from device manager and install the official (garbage) driver before rebooting, it usually works after a second reboot.

I've just been using the stock drivers. Per my computer, I've been using the same one since August (Synaptics SMBus Touchpad v19.5.35.47). I deleted and reinstalled again just to be sure and now instead of two-finger scrolling being reversed (leaving my workflow backward), two-finger scroll has stopped working entirely (rendering my workflow inoperable). I've rolled back to previous driver versions with no luck.

Now that I'm completely back to stock, I see what you're talking about. I don't have access to the settings either. Whatever update just pushed fully broke the settings. HP. Please.

Hi,

Same problem. Just rolled back my Touchpad driver and at least I have the original Synaptics settings back.  Now can disable the touchpad.

It's been three weeks, the issue still persists, I haven't heard back from anyone at HP, and the closest thing to a resolution I've been able to find are instructions in this thread to download a driver from the Microsoft Store that according to my experience is impossible to actually download (confirmed by the 90% of one-star reviews, some more than a year old, detailing similar experiences).

To repeat, without a fully functioning touchpad my ordinary workflow is entirely inoperable. If no solution is forthcoming I will be forced to solve the problem myself by purchasing a new laptop entirely.

It won't be an HP.

ARHOO, see my message above. Was having the same problem and frustration. Seems like the last Windows 10 update replaced the touchpad manufacturer driver with Microsoft generic driver. Just a screw-up.

Go into your touchpad settings, and into the driver. Request that it roll back to the previous driver. For me it brought back my Synaptics driver, and I could once again change the setting to: turn off touchpad when a blue tooth mouse is detected.

Note: asking to search for the newest driver will be fruitless, as Microsoft assumes current driver is the most up to date.

I appreciate the help, but I have rolled back the driver (which apparently worked for you), automatically updated the driver, manually updated the driver, deleted the driver and automatically reinstalled, deleted the driver and manually reinstalled, and repeatedly attempted to manually download and install the driver (which apparently worked for TheAeon), but I was unable to because of an error in the Microsoft Store. None of these have restored the "Clickpad Settings" tab or my ability to customize features like trackpad scrolling.

Just in case I messed something up, I tried to roll back the driver one more time. Still no luck.

Anything else is above my pay grade. Would be nice if an HP tech stepped up. Good luck.
