I purchased a laptop directly through yourselves a little over 18 months ago I believe and am looking to seek advice.
The screen has cracked, due to fault of my own, which I understand cannot be covered by HP and I have read online that you do not recommend replacing or repairing the screen ourselves. Could you please provide details of a trustworthy, retail repair centre? Thanks in advance.

Hello.
Replacing the laptop screen by yourself is doable at home, but you need set of standard screw drivers and other tools, including suction cups.
HP has excellent Maintenance and Service Guides for their laptops. Here is the guide for your model.

Take a look at the screen removal and replacement instructions and decide for yourself if you can do it. If you have never opened or repaired laptop innards in any way, I would not recommend doing this yourself. All work done on the display assembly is usually the most trickiest and time consuming work.
You didn't specify the region you live in for anyone to help you. Is it the McMurdo Station at Antarctica?
One reputable repair centre would be HP. They can repair their own products even when warranty does not cover it.
The Service Guide lists the screen part numbers which you can also look for at HP parts store (or Ebay, Amazon etc.)
There are three types of screens available for your Envy, and the replacement does not have to be the same as the original model, so you can "upgrade" to a better or cheaper screen as well if you choose to do it yourself. Don't know if HP repair centre allows anything else but a direct replacement for the original though.
