Recurring Broken Case Issue - 17-by2053cl

Does anyone know if there is a recall issued for the 17" laptops that are cracking or breaking on the right corner near the screen hinge? Mine has broken twice in the same spot. I had it repaired about a year ago and it's broken again. This thing is a $600 piece of junk. It looks like a design flaw where the casing is too thin to support the hinge because there is a disk drive near the spot weakening the case.
