Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

From the description, it sounds like your laptop screen is failing.

It COULD be drivers, so to test that, restart the PC in SAFE mode following these instructions: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html

If the display artficacts are still there, that rules out drivers and indicates a hardware failure.

Your laptop is undoubtedly well outside the warranty period, so you would have to pay more than it would cost to replace it in order to have the screen replaced.

But, you can use this information on HP Repair Centers to find out how much it would cost:  HP Notebook PCs - Using a Certified HP Service Center to Repair a Notebook PC | HP® Customer Support

Hello there,

I restarted my laptop in safe mode,  and I have the same result, red screen with vertical lines...I am fed up...

OK, so that means it is a hardware issue.

You would need to use the link I provided to check with an HP Service Center to see if it IS repairable, and if so, how much it would cost you.

Good Luck
