Just bought this laptop to replace an old Dell. It will be used mainly for streaming content to my Sony TV. That seems to work OK however when I turn the TV off with the HDMI cable still connected to the laptop I am getting random device connect and disconnect tones. It is like the laptop is repeatedly disconnecting from the TV and then immediately reconnecting. It usually takes some time after the TV is powered off for this to begin.
I am able of course to change the default sounds for device connect and disconnect to (none) which gets around the issue but I then do not get any legitimate device connect and disconnect notifications.
I did not have this issue with my old Dell laptop. It remained continuously connected to the TV via HDMI cable.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that the TV is getting connected and disconnected randomly even when it is turned off.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you update the BIOS, graphics and the chipset driver from the below link and check if it helps.

If you continue facing the issue, install all the Windows updates and check.
Here is how it is done.
Open the Settings menu and go to Update & security > Windows Update. Click Check for updates to prompt your PC to scan for the latest updates. The update will be downloaded and installed automatically. Click Restart Now to restart your PC and complete the installation process
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
Cheers!
