Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598U9AV)

Dear HP Support Team,

I hope you're doing well. I’m writing to request support for an issue that started just after my warranty expired. I’m a student and I’ve been using my HP Victus laptop with care for my studies and daily work.

My warranty expired on April 3, 2025, and soon after, I started noticing a yellow discoloration at the top portion of the screen. The spot slightly changes location depending on how the laptop is stored, but it wasn’t there before. There has been no physical damage or rough usage, and I use a good-quality bag to carry it.

Since this issue appeared right after the warranty ended, I kindly request your consideration for a one-time goodwill or at least a waiver of service/diagnostic charges, as I currently cannot afford a full screen replacement.

Here are my device details:
Laptop Model: HP Victus
Serial Number: <removed>
Product Number: 6F9U1PA#ACJ

I would truly appreciate any help or advice you can provide. Thank you for your time and understanding.

Sincerely,
Adarsh

Hi @Adarsh8789,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you so much for reaching out to us and for sharing your experience so clearly. We truly appreciate the care and attention you’ve given your HP Victus laptop, and we understand how important a reliable device is, especially for a dedicated student managing studies and daily tasks.

As you are noticing the unexpected yellow discolouration on your screen, I would request you to please share the image of the screen so I can try to check and help you better, in solving the issue.

In the meantime, while you are trying to get teh image, please try the steps shared below.

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Shut down your laptop completely.
  2. Unplug the power adapter and remove any connected accessories (USB, external display, etc.).
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge.
  4. Reconnect the power adapter and turn on your laptop.

Check if the discolouration persists.

Step 2: Run HP Display Diagnostic

HP laptops have a built-in display test to help identify hardware issues.

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press the Power button and immediately start pressing Esc repeatedly (once every second) until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
  4. Select Component Tests > Display Test.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If you see the yellow discolouration during this test, it likely points to a hardware issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
