Microsoft Windows 11

Since updating to Windows 11, when I shutdown the laptop by going to Power > Shutdown. Then when I power it back up using the power button, the screen flickers, also dose the same if I restart it.

I know it is something driver related but I have uninstalled and still the same after it re-installs.

The only way I have found to 'work around' this is by shutting it down by holding down the Power button.

Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help resolve the following issues:

      • An available BIOS update resolves a specific issue or improves computer performance.
      • The current BIOS does not support a hardware component or a Windows upgrade.

Thank you, done all of this and it is the same if I shutdown (using win process) and restart by pressing the power on button.

One thing that is now different, if I power it up and it is flickering and I click to resstart the lapotop then the flickering stops. Where as before it would still flicker.

So there is some improvement.

Hello @PendlebG

Thanks for reporting.

You are on an uncertain path with Windows 11 ...

Recommendation and solution

You should downgrade to Windows 10 because Windows 11 has not been officially tested and released by <HP> and there are no Windows 11 drivers  available.

(1) Make backup copies of the most important personal files and data to external <USB hard drive>.

(2Downgrade

Please read and follow the guide carefully !

Downgrade from Windows 11 to Windows 10

See Section <How to downgrade Windows 11 to Windows 10 after 10 days>

Hello @PendlebG

If downgrade fails ...

(1Please reinstall your operating system !

You need (another Windows computer) to prepare bootable <USB flash drive>

An unused or empty USB flash drive with at least 32 GB storage capacity is required.
