Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!

Hello,

I have a laptop that's about six months old. Since a couple of days my screen would start flickering to black. This morning my screen is staying black.

When I hook up my laptop to an external monitor through HDMI it does show my screen to that monitor.

However, when I shine a flashlight at the screen of my laptop I can see my homescreen. I found on the internet that this means the backlight of my laptop screen is broken. Sometimes it will work for ten seconds after reboot but then it goes to black again.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Thank you!!

@vscasper

I reviewed your post and I understand that the backlight on the display is not working.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

It is a hardware issue and I recommend you contact support and check the available service options for your computer.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
